About the event
Join us at Carter James Ranch during lambing season.
You’ll walk the pasture, meet the lambs, and see firsthand how we use animals to care for the land. We’ll talk through how the sheep move across pasture, how we manage them, and how that work turns into the food we offer.
This is a relaxed, come-as-you-are visit. It is a time to ask questions, take your time, and enjoy being out on the ranch.
What to expect
Walk through pasture
See and (likely) hold lambs
Learn how we raise sheep and manage grazing
Time for questions and conversation
What to wear
Boots or closed-toe shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. Families Welcome
Kids are absolutely welcome to join! This is a great chance for them to see animals up close and spend time out on the pasture. We just ask that they stay close as there’s plenty to explore, but this is still a working ranch. We do free-range our chickens and ducks, but the ranch isn’t set up for free-range children. We like to keep things calm and safe for both animals and people. Refreshments
We’ll have complimentary fresh coffee available, along with sourdoughnuts and pasturitos (breakfast burritos made from what is raised on our pastures) available for purchase.
